A while back a lady from church brought her latest quilt in to show everyone-a child size sudoku quilt. I thought it was absolutely gorgeous and decided right then that I wanted to make one. At the time I had already decided I wanted to make a quilt for my mother and so I put 2 and 2 together and opted to make a king size sudoku quilt. The lady from church didn't have a pattern for a king size but I told her if she got me the pattern I would redo all the math and make my own measurements. Well I did it. It only took 6 months but I did it-it is done! Oddly enough my life feels a little empty without the huge quilt lying around!
Looking back on this project I wish I had kept track of all the hours I put into it-picking out material, ironing, sewing pieces, pinning, cutting, stitching and binding-it is unreal how much time it took. But I am proud of how it turned out-it is beautiful! I love it! Here are some pics.

How gorgeous! I love the colors and am sure your mom will love it. I have never made a quilt but sew and cross-stitch, so I know how much of a labor of love something like this is.
Hope all is well with all of you!

Wow! That is such a creative idea.
YOu did a great job! I love it. I am glad your hardwork paid off
Wow that is gorgeous!! Did you stitch it all together by hand?
You did a great job! I'm jealous :) I am sure that your mom loved it! I can't imagine how long it took you to hand quilt it. I've been working on a quilt (between lap and twin size) since January and have just started to do the hand quilting. I keep kicking myself for not getting it done before the Arizona heat kicked in!
Best!!!!!
Kate
