BYU Lamp

My husband and I recently turned an old Teddy Bear lamp into a BYU lamp. Here are some pictures of the same lamp--sanded, painted and a little bit of reworking.

Shade: we taped the top and bottom, so they would end up white. We then spray painted the main part blue, which was a nice covering base. We then covered it with acrylic paint. Remove the tape and walah!

Base: We took the bear off and removed the blocks from original positions. They were connected with wooden dowels so we filled in the holes with puddy and sanded them down really well. We sanded the base and painted it (several times) blue.

Blocks: removed the dowels, sanded entire block and repainted them white. We used the letters to stencil on B-Y-U. We used hot glue to connect the megaphone and wood glue to connect the blocks.

We are really pleased with how the lamp turned out! And just in time for Christmas!
